These homeowners partnered with us to increase their living space through a home addition. Their home that was originally built in 1952 had 2,244 sq. ft. of living space, which was not large enough for their needs.Â
We successfully added 948 sq. ft. to include a brand new primary suite, a large walk-in closet, and a home office space on the second floor. With a new baby on the way, the office became a temporary nursery.
As with any home addition, we ensured that the new addition blends seamlessly with the existing structure.
Aesthetically, these homeowners had classic taste and were careful to make timeless design selections that will never go out of style (such as solid carpets, calming paint colors, and quartz countertops).
We incorporated the homeowners’ existing furniture pieces in the primary bedroom and nursery, but the bathroom space allowed for the most customization.
In the primary bathroom, we installed a large glass shower, and paired traditional subway wall tile with a herringbone marble mosaic floor tile. We added a soaking tub for relaxation.
Large windows allow natural light to stream in, but the blinds offer privacy. The water closet concealed behind a pocket door offers extra storage, and even includes a built-in laundry hamper.Â
The vanity offers ample storage through the lower drawers and tall center storage tower. The Emerstone calacatta serano quartz countertops paired with gold hardware create a beautiful combination that will stand the test of time.
The scalloped edge mirrors add a unique geometric detail to the space, while remaining timeless.Â
Another benefit of this second floor addition is the carport underneath that is large enough to store two vehicles. This will protect their cars from the elements, provide extra storage, and increase the home’s value.Â
With the additional space created by the large home addition, this growing family will enjoy this home for many years to come.Â
