Milhaven Lake

These homeowners needed their “forever home” to function better for their growing family, so they reached out to our team to renovate several spaces. The project scope included updates to their attic, as well as several bedrooms and bathrooms. The goal was to give each of their 5 children their own space to grow, which is exactly what we achieved. 

The largest transformation of all involved turning the existing attic space (originally used for storage) into a bedroom for their oldest son. As you can see from the “before” photo, the attic space was unfinished and needed some ICON magic to transform it into a livable space. The navy carpet, shutters, and built-ins paired perfectly with the fun green walls, provide a punch of color. Because of the unique shape of the attic, our master craftsman Don created custom finishing touches such as small shutters for the arched windows and built-in bookshelves for the reading nook. 

Not only did we finish the attic space, but we extended a small existing bedroom with a dormer to create more room on the second floor. Due to a creative design plan and thoughtful styling, the expanded nursery space comfortably houses a trundle bed, play area and reading nook. It also features a custom closet system created by Don. In the girls’ bathroom, the soft lavender walls paired with scalloped and floral details bring a feminine, yet sophisticated feel to the space. The boys’ Jack and Jill bathroom features a beautiful blue color palette. The modern details flow throughout each space – from the black and brass finishes in one bathroom to the lucite handles and silver hardware in the other bath space. The star print wallpaper adds a touch of whimsy and playfulness to the design. 

Throughout the process, our design coordinators made careful selections with the children’s current ages in mind, while also opting for timeless details that will grow with them. After these transformations, this family of 7 is ready for their next phase, and now every family member has a beautiful space to call their own. A dream come true!
